Pekapeka (Long-tailed bats)
Did you know we have bats in Te Hoiere? Our long-tailed and short-tailed bats are Aotearoa's only native land mammals. Our long-tailed bat populations are classified as nationally critical, meaning they are extremely rare, and face extinction if we don't protect them.
