Fencing
By the end of June 2025, the Project had assisted the community with nearly 90 kilometres of riparian and wetland fencing across the catchment.
Funding was available for fencing of riparian and wetland areas to exclude stock, and that funding has now concluded. The Project pooled funding from multiple Government sources to provide assistance to landowners for fencing labour and materials. Some landowners also progressed to additional funding for riparian and wetland planting, including site preparation and maintenance.
Fencing is considered the first line of defence in improving river water quality. It's also known to have benefits for stock management and stock health.
